The passing of the weeklong election has finally granted me the optimism to discuss the many upcoming titles regarding video games and movies alike. November is shaping up to be an exciting month for a new console release, awaited games and other entertainment alike. Let’s delve into the upcoming titles that I am mostly anticipating.

PlayStation 5

The long time wait of Sony’s next gen console is finally within our reach. The PlayStation 5 has looked beyond promising to me since the reveal trailer and many State of Plays that tagged along since the middle of the year. It is incredibly hard to believe that at the start of this turbulent year the new console is days away from its official release.

Many specifications of the PS5 have me thrilled like backwards compatibility for PlayStation 4 games as well as increased performance. Although I am grateful to have the PS5 be able to run my entire library of PlayStation 4 games, my only minor gripe is having to buy a 4K TV to get the best visual experience to appreciate the quality of the newer games. I can only hope that the Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals be good to me this year.

Video Games

November 2020 was shaping up to be a phenomenal month with the release of Cyperpunk 2077 yet, we all know how that ended. Regardless, November 2020 is still a great month featuring games that are still influencing a couple of future ill-advised PTO days. The list for upcoming video games that have me especially excited are Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition and Marvel’s Spider-Man PS5 Miles Morales.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon

Yakuza: Like a Dragon is a great indicator for me to finally finish my playthrough for the Yakuza series that I had started last year. Currently, I am slowly inching forward on Kiryu’s saga with Yakuza Kiwami 2 that stays true to its action RPG roots. The eighth installment of Yakuza drops the action RPG aspect and turns it into a traditional turn-based RPG flaunting a party system and hilarious summons. The SEGA flagship game still has it’s ridiculous minigames, stellar combat and engaging story as well. Although the game itself has been released in Japan at the start of the year, I will continue my playthrough of the series in chronological order until I can rightfully enjoy the latest addition.

Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition

Capcom’s high-octane Devil May Cry series is no stranger to the special edition treatment. Even way back to the days of multiple Street Fighter II releases, Capcom could not help releasing an updated DMC for more replayability. The newest add-on to that tradition is Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition with the inclusion of the much-awaited playable character, Vergil.

DMC5 was an excellent continuation of the series for casual fans to witness the stylish actions of both Nero and Dante with a heavily emphasized story. My excitement for this Special Editions stems from Vergil finally being available without the inclusion of mods as well as my second wind for completing Bloody Palace. A new system and a new updated version of the game gives me the itch to keep it stylish once more.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales

I must give context on why I enjoyed Marvel’s Spider-Man in the first place before I talk about Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales. Spider-Man 2 that was released by Treyarch in the archaic days of 2004 is my all-time favorite video game. The physics-based action-adventure game had me swinging for hours and fighting bad guys till the crack of dawn. Marvel’s Spider-Man by Insomniac Games took the same concept and knocked it out of the park that included enhanced physics, stylish combat and subtle to direct nods that expanded Spider-Man’s legacy once more.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales is shaping up to possibly overtake its predecessor with more battle options and an enhanced hip look. I am certainly looking forward to how Miles Morales operates in this sequel versus Peter Parker’s legendary story from the previous game. I am most excited about what sort of opposition Miles will face in this game with his own case of villains. Established Spider-Man fans are well accustomed to his iconic rogue gallery of Rhino, Kingpin and Doctor Octopus to name a few. I for one am not familiar with Miles’s opposition in the slightest apart from his uncle/first nemesis The Prowler. The female villain that was shown to manifest weapons to fight Miles in one of the reveal trailers looks promising and I cannot wait to see who fills the role as the final boss.

Summary and Honorable Mentions

Even though I am incredibly hyped for the Miles Morales game, I have only watched a total of three trailers for this future title. I know it is counterproductive, but I genuinely want to experience this game blindly just like I did the first one. I wish to return to that feeling of swinging through a contemporary New York and stopping bad guys like I have always done. Hopefully with less time spent on the Mary Jane “stealth” missions (aka not Spider-Man sections). You will certainly hear about what I have to say once I finish the game in the up and coming months.
