Anime to video game adaptations possess slim options. These adaptions are either developed into an arena battle fighter or a sandbox game to explore the anime’s universe. Shonen anime such as Naruto and Dragon Ball Z have maintained an immense library of games dedicated to the sub-genres. However, a rare occasion amongst the adaptations occurs when popular series are envisioned as fighting games. A 2D game with flashy visuals and fan service through an array of moves. I cannot think of a better series that translates better as a fighting game than Jujutsu Kaisen.

Throughout the fighting genre of manga there are countless examples of jaw-dropping abilities and fights. Both the caliber of fighters along with their techniques can make for memorable storylines. Having read my fair share of fighting manga, I wanted to classify the sub-genres I noticed during my reading. The feats/abilities in a martial arts manga range from realistic to outright illogical. I aim to talk about the elements that create the sub-genres between technical and supernatural fighting.
Continue readingThe narrative structure of a story hinges on a protagonist. A person propelled by the events of their environment or antagonist/villain that ventures out to meet their goal. Different types of main character range from heroes, antagonists, and anti-heroes certainly stand out. I have countless of heroes that I find interesting but only one category consistently interests me: the former bullied protagonist. A protagonist who once had zero aspirations or goals that evolves after finding their calling. My aim for this post is to explore how this type of character behaves and the elements behind them.

December 2020 is the month of long-awaited releases from finals seasons to new intellectual properties. This post is mostly dedicated to Soul, Attack on Titan and Cyberpunk 2077. December ushers in a month of content that I am definitely enthusiastic to talk about.
Continue readingWhen presented with two options, humans will always argue over which is better. Apple vs PC, Coca Cola vs Pepsi, white meat vs dark meat, etc. Regarding the entertainment medium, Sub vs Dub to established anime fans is considered life or death. It is the basis for whether you truly experience the content to its fullest or as a fleeting joke never to be revisited. To me, matter of preference has no effect on my viewership. Whether it be subbed or dubbed, whichever enhances my enjoyment will be the winner.
