Creed III’s Marketed Rivalry is Conflicting

Reading Time: 3 min read

I am a big fan of the first two Creed movies. Films that bounced off the Rocky franchise with a protagonist with his father’s legacy and dealing with mountainous physical and mental hardships. It combined explosive choregraphed fights and produced dramatic storytelling that made the Ryan Coogler films feel organic in its predecessor’s shadow. The third movie, while ambitious, does not resonate with me on its final product.

WARNING: This post features heavy spoilers because I lack the discipline to do a spoiler free thought. Maybe one day.

Black Panther Wakanda Forever’s Lack of Black Panther

Reading Time: 3 min read

The MCU’s last phase four movie, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, left a mixed impression. Some declare it a mess while others sing the sequel’s praises. Nigel, you might remember him here, and I took the opportunity to watch it on a late Tuesday evening. Well, my first time watching it because Nigel saw it day one with his fresher than fresh comic book t-shirt.

Black Adam Movie is Faithful and Dumb

Reading Time: 3 min read

Two weeks ago, I was adamant on not seeing Black Adam due to the horrible taste in my mouth from Thor: Love and Thunder. However, I went to see Hollywood staple, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the new comic book movie. I went with Nigel, one of my best friends, who is more optimistic about comic book movies than my pseudo movie critic self. After watching it, DC’s latest movie is an entertaining ride but ultimately a dumb film. Way better than the MCU’s latest two attempts at movies.

The Appeal of the Third Act of a Crime Film

Reading Time: 4 min read

A sentence that I am fond of saying during 2022 is that I have watched Scarface for the first time. Not reflective of my opening, but this will not be a long-winded analysis of the widely acclaimed 1983 classic. This essay is to address a key section of crime dramas that hits with a formulaic precision regardless of the film, the third act. Relating to the eventual downfall of the characters/organization and twists that cement the finale is the movie’s strongest portion. Whether the gangster movie are classics like New Jack City or Goodfellas, the third act is where it counts. This is the period of the movie that cements its legacy because it illustrates how one can burn too bright.

The theatrical release of Sony Picture’s Morbius has certainly… made a movie for awaiting Marvel fans. What was unexpected of the movie was having not one but TWO post credit scenes. The first scene depicting lethal vampire hunter, Blade, filing his taxes. After a two-minute credit reel, a second post credit scene revealed a bombshell. Morbius is the first Marvel movie to leak the upcoming roster for Capcom’s Marvel vs Capcom 4: Worlds Collide.

Soul’s Perspective on Life is Beautiful

Reading Time: 3 min read

I hate to use a common phrase, but Disney and Pixar’s Soul spoke to me. Everyone has a movie that defines how they perceive life and Soul was perfect for the current chapter in mines. I would wager that this animated movie is perfect for an audience caught in life’s many crossroads. Fair warning, I am going to spoil a small bit of content for the movie below. I was heavily looking forward to this movie this month and can safely say that it did not disappoint. Soul takes us on a meaningful journey to discover what it means to live life.
